LGECI Commercial Air Conditioning offers a broad array of courses from our basic refrigeration classes for building owners all the way to advanced commissioning and start-up classes for contractors. Courses available now include:

1A - Multi V Engineering and Product Training

Who should attend: Engineers, architects, employees/sub-contractors of LG Applied Representative agencies. Distributor partners engaging in designing and specifying HVAC systems who are relatively new to LG VRF technology.

What you will learn: The features and benefits offered by the Multi V line of VRF equipment. Each of the system platforms will be presented with potential applications described. Multi F, Multi V Heat Pump, Multi V Heat Recovery, and Multi V Mini, each provide unique benefits and value to the customer. Use of the LG Technical Solutions (LATS) design software will also be covered during this course.

How you will learn: This course consists of a product overview that includes a discussion of the features and benefits of Multi V outdoor units. A complete discussion of the full suite of indoor units will also be considered. This course will be an overview of LG's design software: LATS (LG Technical Solutions).

Prerequisites: There are no prerequisite courses needed to qualify for this course. It is recommended that you bring a laptop computer to class with the following minimum operating specifications.

What to bring to class:
1. Laptop PC running Windows XP/NT/2000 or later, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a minimum of MS Excel and MS Word installed. MS PowerPoint is also preferred.
2. Downloaded LATS software from www.lgeaircon.com (register for access first; see your local LG representative for help in loading this software).
3. Safety shoes and safety glasses will be required as you will be working in our equipment lab.

Duration: One day.

1B - Multi V Installation Essentials

Who should attend: Employees and sub-contractors of our Representative or Distributor partners who will be engaging in field installation of LG VRF equipment.

What you will learn: The manufacturer’s guidelines for installing the piping and wiring systems connected to the indoor and outdoor LG VRF air conditioning equipment.

How you will learn: Class beings with a brief introduction to LG Electronics, followed by lectures about product installation consideration and a discussion covering pre-commissioning tasks that must be completed before arranging for factory authorized start-up and commissioning. During lab activities, students will be introduced to LGMV (LG Monitoring View Software), which is the tool that must be used to evaluate equipment performance. Emphasis is also placed on piping and control wiring.

Prerequisites:
1. Technical knowledge of commercial A/C, heat pump, and applied systems.
2. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.

What to bring to class:
1. Laptop PC running Windows XP/NT/2000 or later, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a minimum of MS Excel and MS Word installed. MS PowerPoint is also preferred.
2. Downloaded LATS software from www.lgeaircon.com (register for access first; see your local LG representative for help in loading this software).
3. Safety shoes and safety glasses will be required as you will be working in our equipment lab.

Duration: 2 Days.

2 - Multi V Commissioning for LG Service Agents

Who should attend: Employees and sub-contractors working with our applied or distribution partners engaged in field commissioning of HVAC equipment. Please note: Attendance in this class will be limited to only those individuals that have been invited to attend.

What you will learn: The practical skills necessary to perform as an external authorized commissioner of LG Multi V systems. Satisfactory completion of this course is step two of a three step certification process.

How you will learn: The student will be guided through the steps of the commissioning process by classroom lecture and reinforcement of lessons by practical exercise in our live equipment lab.

Prerequisites: You must have successfully completed and passed the 1A - Multi V Engineering and Product Training along with 1B - Multi V Installation Essentials (2 day course)

What to bring to class:
1. Laptop PC running Windows XP/NT/2000 or later, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a minimum of MS Excel and MS Word installed. MS PowerPoint is also preferred.
2. Purchase of LGMV software (to be obtained, please contact your local LG distributor) PRCTSL1 Software and Hard Lock Key, and PRCTFE1 - RS-485 Cable Kit.
3. Safety shoes and safety glasses will be required as you will be working in our equipment lab.

Duration: One day.

3 - Multi V Advanced Service and Troubleshooting

Who should attend: Employees and sub-contractors of LG Applied Representatives or Applied Distribution partners engaged in the service and repair of LG VRF air conditioning equipment. Mechanical contractors who meet the prerequisites below may also register and attend this course.

Please note: Attendance in this class will be limited to only those individuals that have satisfied all prerequisites as described below.

What you will learn: You will become familiar with the breadth of LG's main and sub PCBs. On a modular level, the student will learn the part each component plays in a correctly operating Multi V system. Indoor and outdoor electrical connections and interrelationships will be discussed. Physical access to all major functional components will be covered along with practical guidance concerning the service and maintenance of Multi V equipment.

How you will learn: The student will be guided through the steps of the troubleshooting process by means of classroom lecture and reinforcement of lessons by practical hands on exercises on live equipment in the lab.

Prerequisites: You must have successfully completed and passed the 1A - Multi V Engineering and Product Training along with 1B - Multi V Installation Essentials (2 day course)

What to bring to class:
1. Laptop PC running Windows XP/NT/2000 or later, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a minimum of MS Excel and MS Word installed. MS PowerPoint is also preferred.
2. Purchase of LGMV software (to be obtained, please contact your local LG distributor) PRCTSL1 Software and Hard Lock Key, and PRCTFE1 - RS-485 Cable Kit.
3. Safety shoes and safety glasses will be required as you will be working in our equipment lab.

Duration: One day. 

4 - CONTROLS CONCEPTS (V-NET)

Who should attend: Employees and sub-contractors of LG Applied Representatives or Applied Distribution partners engaged in the service and repair of LG VRF air conditioning equipment in need of an overview of LG controls devices. Participants will also learn how these devices can be applied to satisfy various controls solutions.

What you will learn: You will become familiar with the breadth of LG's product line-up of central control options such as LG's basic wall interface, AC-EZ Central Controller, AC Smart, ACP, Power Distribution Indicator (PDI), and Group Control components. Also, LG BMS gateways for BACnet and Lon Works applications will be covered. Participants will also learn the capabilities and limitations of these devices.

How you will learn: We begin with an instructor-lead discussion covering the questions that MUST be answered when building a controls scheme and selecting control devices: What must be provided to meet/maintain comfort and control requirements of the customer? Understanding customer expectations is critical. Wall interfaces, central controllers, gateways, and PDI devices will be covered in the form of lectures and lab activity.

What to bring to class:
Laptop PC running Windows XP/NT/2000 or later, Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a minimum of MS Excel and MS Word installed. MS PowerPoint is also preferred.

Duration: One day.
